Issue details - Appointment of Interim Director of Housing
The Interim Director of Housing is defined as
a Chief Officer role within
the council’s Constitution.
With regards to the interim role, a national/regional search
process was
undertaken by the Council's master vendor supplier for interim
and
temporary agency workers.
The position was also open to all other suitable agencies
regionally and
nationally to submit suitable candidates.
The search process produced 5 candidates, of which 4 were
shortlisted
and taken forward for interview.
Formal interviews took place on the 18th August 2023, which
included the Chief Executive and the Cabinet Member Portfolio
Holder.
Of the candidates interviewed, Dean Epton was considered the
most
suitable.

Implications: Resources: The costs of the interim appointment shall be met from existing approved budgets within Finance. Legal and Governance: The council would not be able to meet its legal obligations in the absence of suitably qualified officer in place undertaking the role of Director of Housing. Risk: The council is at significant risk should it not have a suitably qualified officer in place undertaking the role of Director of Housing.
