Decision details
Temporary Suspension of Parking Restrictions on the A457 Red Route
Decision Maker: Leader of the Council
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
That, the assessment of the suspension of
parking restrictions on the A457 is considered and if the potential
risks are acceptable to the Cabinet Member for Environment the
temporary suspension of the single red line parking restrictions on
the A457 between 7am and 10am is implemented on the mornings when
Eid prayer meetings are held in April and June 2023.
Reasons for the decision:
This report seeks to depart from Cabinet
approved policy for a temporary suspension of parking restrictions
on the A457 red route at the request of the Jamia Mosque for Eid.
The timing of the requested suspensions is to facilitate parking
associated Eid celebrations at the mosque when these occur on
weekday mornings. The anticipated dates for 2023 are potentially
Friday 21 April and 28 or 29 June between 7.00am and
11.30am.
Alternative options considered:
The June date might vary and delegated
authority is sought for the Director of Borough Economy, in
consultation with the Cabinet Member for Environment, to suspend
the single red line restrictions subject to due diligence in the
consideration of any traffic management constraints and associated
road safety issues on the network at the time.
