It was agreed that approval be given to Katharine Willmette being appointed as Interim Director of Adult Social Care and the Council’s Statutory DASS with effect from 4th February 2021.

In order for the Council to comply with the statutory requirement for one of its suitably qualified officers to be appointed as DASS, the Head of Paid Service has sought to make an in interim appointment until such time as the post can be recruited to permanently. The process for the permanent recruitment is timetabled to be completed by the end of March 2021. A provisional interview date for permanent candidates has been set for 25th March.

The post of Director of Adult Social Care has been vacant with effect from 4th January 2021 and is currently being recruited to on a permanent basis. In the interim between the previous DASS leaving and this interim arrangement being put in place temporary arrangements have been made within the council with the role being covered by a combination of the Chief Executive and Director of Business Strategy and Change. However, this is not a sustainable solution for this role for other than a very short period.
